De Francesca Law Achieves Sustained Forward Momentum Despite Pandemic

These past few months have proven challenging for many of our clients in managing the effects of COVID-19 on their businesses and investments. Over this transitional period, our office has been very busy as we stepped up our efforts to help you adjust to the changing circumstances, and do deals to ensure your continued business equilibrium. Taking a multi-faceted teamwork approach, alongside our corporate, litigation and employment lawyer colleagues, we concluded many complex transactions on behalf of our clients, enabling them to adapt to evolving market conditions, mitigate risk and ensure their business affairs remain on a solid footing.

The firm has also expanded its service capability both in terms of specialty and geographical location for clients with more specialized requirements through our membership in the International Network of Boutique Law Firms (INBLF), a global network of leading boutique and independent law firms. Through INBLF, De Francesca Law can facilitate quality legal expertise for our clients in a full range of practice areas with the degree of personal attention and cost-effective pricing that you have come to expect from us. For details, please visit our website.

De Francesca Law Award
at Ryerson University

Ryerson University Faculty of Law

We continue to invest in growth of the profession and the next generation of Ontario real estate lawyers through ongoing financial support of law schools in the province. Building on the current bursary award we have at the University of Windsor Law School, our firm has now established the De Francesca Law Award at Ryerson University as part of its inaugural law program. This year, our award will be presented to the outstanding student in the first year Property Law course, conditional on full-time enrolment in the JD program in the second year, clear academic standing and demonstrated financial need. Please visit Ryerson Law’s website for more information.

Financial Support for Orphanages at
SOS Children’s Villages in Rome and Greece

SOS Children's Villages Canada

On our community side, De Francesca Law has expanded support for SOS Children’s Villages, a global charitable children’s organization founded in 1949 to address the plight of orphaned and abandoned children with over 2,000 facilities worldwide, that we started last year. In 2020, our support now extends to the SOS Children’s Village Rome with funding to help with the running of an orphanage in the region. This Village was constructed in 1984-86 on a site northwest of Rome. As well, plans are currently underway to provide similar funding for SOS Villages projects in Greece.

I’m pleased to welcome Wisnavi Kana to De Francesca Law, who joins us as Law Clerk, strengthening our clerical ranks and bringing greater resources to support our growing activities. A graduate of Centennial’s Legal Administration Diploma program and a certified mortgage agent, Wisnavi has previously worked as a law clerk for different law firms in the GTA over the past six years. We also welcome back Associate Lawyer Amanda Carpenter, who has rejoined the firm after her maternity leave taken last year.
