Staying Strong

DFL’s Spirit of Strength and Renewal

This past year has been both exhilarating and challenging for us at De Francesca Law. The legacy of COVID-19 has meant a myriad of challenges for everyone, causing some to wonder about important choices because of changed circumstances and new priorities. Through it all, DFL been responsive to these new realities, while staying true to our mission of quality service and innovative solutions for our clients.

We have seen some exciting improvements here at the firm. Over the summer, we introduced a bold new look to the Broadview Danforth community and kicked off some new lines of business for our customers. These additions are a great boost to the client service culture here at DFL and I’m sure they’re going to have a big impact in the future of the firm.

Enduring Client Relationships

Tribecca Finance Corporation

Building client relationships of quality is our #1 priority. Through the COVID-19 period and now beyond, we’re doing all we can to support our clients with greater creative thinking and better practical solutions to meet real needs.

Today, we’re living through the winds of change in Europe, brought on by the war in Ukraine and its negative impact on the economies of the region after the spikes in global energy supply. We’re now seeing the effects of deteriorating market conditions, inflation on the rise and interest rate hikes in its wake to slow its growth.

With residential institutional lending tightening in Canadian markets, alternative financing through private sources has rapidly become an attractive option for borrowers and buyers seeking more competitive funding solutions. With DFL’s privileged access to the private market through our special relationship with Tribecca Finance Corporation, we’re in a strong position to offer our clients the chance to take advantage of this opportunity. Tribecca is a leading Ontario alternative lending solution provider and has been a valued client of our firm for almost 20 years. By leveraging the value of DFL’s relationship with Tribecca, we can assist you in managing your future financing needs more efficiently by accessing this alternative option.

Our Growing Business

We’re very proud of our connection with clients and their businesses. And with the Breglia acquisition this year, we believe that positive feeling has grown stronger.

The Breglia transaction has strengthened our real estate core business and spearheaded the growth in our related Wills and Estates and Commercial Leasing business lines. The effect has been to enhance our firm’s reputation as a multi-disciplinary service provider known for service quality, business solutions and getting results.

DFL’s Wills and Estates and Commercial Leasing businesses are up and running, headed up by Amanda Carpenter and Andrew Kirk, respectively. If you would like more information about either of these services, please reach out to Amanda at (416) 778-778-4433 ext. 223 or by email at amanda@defranlaw.com or Andrew at (416) 778-4433 ext. 225 or andrew@defranlaw.com.

Supporting Community Theatre

DFL believes strongly in supporting the social and cultural activities on display in our community. This summer, we were proud to sponsor Driftwood Theatre with funding for their summer bus tour of the company’s King Henry Five performances, an ambitious adaptation of three Shakespeare plays – Henry IV Pts 1 & 2, and Henry V – staged in local community venues across the province.

Also, we remain a committed supporter of SOS Children’s Villages, the global charitable children’s organization founded in 1949 to address the plight of orphaned and abandoned children with over 2,000 facilities worldwide. This year, we broadened our support to the SOS Village in Vari, Greece. Vari is the first SOS Village set up in Greece and is located about 12 kilometres from Athens. This is alongside our continuing support of the SOS Village in Ondangwa in Northern Namibia in Africa, and the SOS Village Ostuni in southeastern Italy.

And this October, in a first for the firm, DFL is proud to kick off our “Great Pumpkin Giveaway,” an exciting pre-Halloween event taking place at our office on the Toronto Danforth with friends and neighbours. It’s just one of the ways we like to give back to our community with the pumpkin of their choice!

Staff Updates

I’m particularly pleased to announce our two staff changes in staff complement that continue to strengthen our ranks and give us greater resources for carrying out our mission of delivering the best in service for our clients. Andrew Kirk joins us as an associate lawyer with the firm, working alongside Amanda Carpenter and myself on the DFL legal team. I’m also pleased to announce that Amanda has been promoted from Associate to the position of lawyer.

Andrew holds a LLB degree from Kent University in the United Kingdom and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2021. Prior to joining DFL, he worked in real estate law in the GTA, as well as having related experience in other practice areas of the law and in client relationship building. He’s also a regular contributor to the firm’s Real Estate and Mortgage Report, our e-newsletter.
